Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here is a list of explanations to some common questions and comments. If you have other questions, let us know.

Q: What category should I search under ?

A: If you're not sure or cannot find your category in the list, it could be listed under another category name. Go to the index of categories, and do a browser 'find'(Ctrl+F) on the page. You can also search using the search box on the right column, or visit the Search page.

Q: I cannot find what I want under a category, what else can I do ?

A: Try thinking of what other words describes the site, and see if you can identify another category. If not, do a search.

Q: When browsing the listing, I cannot click one of the category tags.

A: A category tag will be disabled if you're currently browsing that category's index page itself. This tag is differentiated from other categories by having an inset(depressed) appearance.

Q: How do I get listed or suggest a listing ?

A: We welcome any suggestions for listing. Please write to us.

Q: I spotted an error, what can I do ?

A: Please update us. We'll appreciate your help in keeping this index correct and updated !

Q: A site listed doesn't work, what's happening ?

A: Sites listed are verified to be working at the point of inclusion into the index. There could be various reasons why a site has stopped working, including :

  • it is undergoing maintenance and down temporarily.
  • there are network or equipment problems in the hosting, DNS or network provider of the site. These should normally be resolved within minutes or at most an hour or two in serious cases.
  • the owner of the site has decided to shut it down permanently or for an extended period of time. We do frequent checks and will remove a listing if we suspect it to be permanently shut down.

You might want to bookmark the site and check again later. If it's still not working on the second try, help us keep updated.

Q: I visited a site but the contents doesn't seem to fit into the category or your description of it.

A: Ownership and control of sites or domain names are never permanent. Some owners, for certain reasons, may decide to redirect visitors to other related domains or even totally different content sites even though the owners still maintain control over the site. In some cases, a company merger or buy-over might have occurred and consolidation of websites are not uncommon. Other times, a website/domain name is sold or taken over by new owners who may decide to replace its contents with a different subject matter altogether.

Q: I don't think a category or some categories appropriately describes a specific site.

A: Categories are tagged to each site based on human judgement and are subjective. If you think a category isn't appropriate or an alternative category(or categories) could be used to describe a link, let us know.
